The RAID log needs the right level of detail to be captured, and it should be dynamic content that is constantly maintained throughout the project/programme lifecycle. NB: For simplicity, we will refer to the term “RAID” (rather than RAIDD – although our setup does allow for both “decision” and “dependency” types of information logs). The decision log records information such as decision description, meeting, outcome, approval date, decision owner, and alike for the project/programme decisions. The dependency log records information such as description, due date, owner, impact, the likelihood for dependencies within the project or programme. The issue log records information such as issue description, action owner, impact, resolution date and alike for known issues within the project/programme. The assumption log records information such as sensitivity (impact), stability (confidence), reporter and alike for things you have assumed within the project/programme.The risk log records information such as probability, impact, proximity, mitigation, owner and alike for things that could go wrong but has not yet occurred.Introduction to RAID – Risks, Assumptions, Issues & Dependencies/DecisionsĪ RAID log is a simple, effective management tool to organise a project/programme by the tracking of Risks (R), Assumptions (A), Issues (I), and Dependencies/Decisions (D). We will quickly introduce RAID Logs and demonstrate how we can adapt Jira software to provide a centralised approach for managing RAID Logs. The information shows how Jira can include having a project set up for RAID items (issue types, workflows & screens) and show that you can also display critical RAID information on various Jira Dashboards. This article is part of a series about adopting an Agile PMO using Jira, here we will discuss managing RAID Logs using the Jira toolset.
